2019 Fall Playlist

Even though the sun and warmth of summer have left Door County, the music always remains. As we head into the fall season, recall those balmy, 70(ish)-degree days during the early summer when we introduced the Weekly Music Preview (WMP): an email that you can subscribe to that serves up a heaping plateful of anything music-related in Door County. That means upcoming events, music news, show reviews, profiles of bands and artists, playlists and whatever else we can think of. They’re served fresh every Tuesday morning to early afternoon.

One WMP feature is our biweekly playlist “On Another Note.” These are particularly fun to put together because they cover genres of all sorts – and especially ones you wouldn’t normally hear around these parts. Take, for example, our list a few weeks back that covered rap, grime and hip-hop. You don’t see that here on the peninsula too often (or at all).

All of the previous playlists are available online at doorcountypulse.com/on-another-note-pulse-playlists. Scroll down to the bottom to find the most recent playlist. You can listen to it right there on the page if you have a Spotify account, and it lists the chosen songs if you need to look them up elsewhere. The section below it features playlists the Pulse made before we started “On Another Note.”

The fall season is coming to the county, and what better way to make that transition than to make another playlist? Welcome to the Pulse’s 2019 Fall Playlist, concocted by members of our staff. It consists of 50 songs from a variety of artists, including Vance Joy, Vampire Weekend, Portugal. The Man, Rod Stewart, The Grateful Dead, Patsy Cline and more.

We asked staffers to contribute songs they felt encapsulated the fall vibe, however they defined it. This “vibe” we speak of can be taken loosely. Does a song address nature directly? Does it reflect the autumnal mood? The weather? How literally should these songs say “fall”?

We’ll let them speak for themselves.
