45 Years of Fiber Arts on Washington Island

The results of a Sievers basketry class. Submitted.

On June 5, Sievers School of Fiber Arts is marking its 45th year of teaching classes in weaving, knitting, quilting and more – classes that welcome all levels of adult students to spend uninterrupted time learning from knowledgeable and encouraging instructors in a remote, tranquil setting.

The Sievers Shop, located in a schoolhouse built in 1890, is open daily to offer original fiber arts and fine crafts made by 70-plus artists, along with a wide array of knitting and weaving yarns, patterns, books, fiber-arts supplies and more.
