In attendance were Rear Admiral Fred Midgette, senior commander for all Coast Guard operations throughout the Great Lakes and Saint Lawrence Seaway, Lt. Gov Rebecca Kleefisch, Congressman Reid Ribble, Captain Matt Sibley, Commander of Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan, and Sturgeon Bay Mayor Thad Birmingham. Sturgeon Bay Administrator Steve McNeil served as master of ceremonies in recognizing Sturgeon Bay as the 16th Coast Guard city in the nation and the only city in Wisconsin with the designation. As all pointed out during the ceremony, Sturgeon Bay earned the designation by going above and beyond in welcoming the Coast Guard community into the larger community of Sturgeon Bay and Door County.
