American Honey Queen Visiting Pen Park

You can meet “nature’s royalty” when Hannah Sjostrom, the 2019 American Honey Queen (and a third-generation beekeeper), buzzes up to Door County July 10-12.

As the national spokesperson for the American Beekeeping Federation – and the 2018 Wisconsin Honey Queen – Sjostrom will highlight the economic importance of honeybees as pollinators and how we can help them thrive. All ages are welcome at her free events, and photos are encouraged.

Peninsula State Park initiated her visit. She’ll be in the park’s Nature Center July 11, 10 am – 12 pm, and will address visitors around 10:30 am. Enjoy children’s activities, and walk to the center’s bee and butterfly meadow. A state park vehicle sticker is required.

Other appearance venues include Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay, July 10, 4-5:30 pm, hosted by Door County Beekeepers; Northern Sky Theater, July 10, 7-8 pm; Egg Harbor Library, July 11, 1-2:15 pm; Hatch Distillery, July 11, 2:30-3 pm; and Lautenbach Orchard, July 12, 11 am – 12 pm.
