Annual Folk Festival at Peg Egan PAC

Dorothy Scott

On July 7 at 7 pm, The Peg Egan Performing Arts Center will present the sixth annual Folk Festival as part of the 2013 Sunset Concert Series. National touring artists Patchouli, Jana Nyberg jazz group, Dorothy Scott and Sue Demel will present the best of folk, jazz, alternative and pop music.

Nationally touring, award-winning songwriter Julie Patchouli and master guitarist Bruce Hecksel light up the air with sparkling acoustic sounds and their contagious chemistry. Patchouli’s down-to-earth, hopeful songwriting is “new American folk” blending elements of folk, pop, flamenco and jazz with world beat rhythms.

Scott’s music reminds us of something primal, spiritual, beautiful and healing. It has been said that a Dorothy Scott is a musical explorer whose works incorporate blues, folk, rock and jazz.

Jana Nyberg

Nyberg has become a force in the jazz scene, with an appearance on season 10 of American Idol and the release of her second full-length album Fever. Known for her unique blend of jazz and pop music, she brings a vibrancy and passion to her audiences.

Demel sparkles with one of the most expressive female voices heard in folk music today. Her inspired harmonies always delights as she beats on her djembe drums or quietly strums the dulcimer or guitar.

The Peg Egan Center is located on Church Street in Egg Harbor, and all concerts are free and open to the public. In case of rain, all concerts are held at the Calvary Methodist Church in Egg Harbor. For more information call 920.493.5979.
