Barn Dance Birthday Celebration

The Gibraltar Historical Association and the Sugar on the Floor Barn Dance Society will present an authentic summer barn dance on Saturday, August 9 to celebrate Gibraltar Township’s 150th birthday. The location for this evening of dance will be the barn at the Settlement Courtyard Inn grounds, Highway 42, about 1/3 of a mile south of Fish Creek.

Events of the evening start at 5:30 pm when Ken Smith will demonstrate an ‘ultra-light’ plane fly-in, weather permitting. The Sesquicentennial Contra Dance will take place from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. The caller/teacher for the evening will be Tim Jenkins. Live music will be provided by the Sugar on the Floor Barn Dance Orchestra.

Remember you do not need to know anything about dancing before coming; you will be taught everything you need to know. Come with a dance partner or come by yourself. Everyone dances! Maybe you would just like to listen to the barn dance music and watch the action while experiencing an authentic barn dance.

The Gibraltar Area’s Sesquicentennial Barn Dance on August 9 is free and open to the public (donations are gratefully accepted). This is a no alcohol event.
