Birch Creek Announces 2016 Concert Schedule

Tickets for Birch Creek Music Performance Center’s 2016 summer concert season are now available for purchase at birchcreek.org.

The Percussion & Steel Band Session will showcase performances by students and faculty from June 23-25 and June 29-July 2, under Program Director Dan Moore, Director of Percussion at The University of Iowa. Birch Creek’s Percussion performances feature a diverse range of styles; from Caribbean grooves with Steelpan master Liam Teague, to percussive jazz, authentic world music, and more.

Steel DrumSymphony session concerts, under Program Director Ricardo Castañeda and Conductor Brian Groner, will run July 4-9 and July 13-16. The orchestra will perform works by Wagner, Brahms, Vivaldi, and other classical mainstays. Special events include Birch Creek’s Annual Independence Day Concert, “An American Anthem,” and a performance from the Symphony Faculty on July 13 titled “Classical Blast.”

Big Band Jazz concerts will run in two sessions from July 20-23, 27-30 and August 3-6, 10-13. Program Director Jeff Campbell and the Birch Creek Academy Jazz Orchestra return to Door County for 16 nights of the best, most authentic jazz in Door County, with faculty performers from all across the country playing jazz favorites by Ellington, Basie, and many more. Students will be featured in pre-show combo performances and big band numbers as well.

Ticket prices are $29 adults, $10 students and $6 children, with premium seating available for $34. Group rates available for parties of 15 or more. All 2016 concerts will begin at 7:30 pm, with 7 pm pre-show music unless otherwise noted. For a full concert schedule, visit birchcreek.org/tickets.
