Birch Creek Jazz Ambassadors Perform Across County

The Birch Creek Jazz Ambassadors, a jazz combo comprised of advanced students, are scheduled to perform concerts at various venues throughout Door County, from July 19 through Aug. 12.

Jazz Ambassadors2The ambassadors are selected from Birch Creek’s jazz students based on an audition process that takes place at the beginning of each jazz session. They go on to perform a rigorous concert schedule across the county, sometimes playing more than once a day, allowing students to gain experience as traveling, gigging musicians. The Ambassadors in the Jazz I session are directed by José L. Encarnación, and the Jazz II Ambassadors are directed by Marty Robinson.

“In a classroom, you can’t so easily teach stage presence, set order, and non-verbal gestures to appreciative fans, but with the Ambassadors, they are always learning and honing these skills, professionally, and even the mundane ones such as how long of a break to take and how to load the band van,” said Robinson.

The Ambassador combos will hold performances at the following locations: July 19 & Aug. 2, 2:30-4:30 pm, Noble House Park; July 21 & Aug. 4, 8 – 10 pm, Gibraltar Grill; July 28 & Aug. 11, 5-7 pm, Harbor View Park; July 22, 29 & Aug. 5, 12, 2-4 pm, Stone’s Throw Winery.

More performances will take place at venues such as the Sister Bay Historical Society, Trueblood Performing Arts Center, Jacksonport Farmers Market, Spa Verde, the Birch Creek Gazebo, and more. Visit birchcreek.org/tickets/special-events/ for the full Ambassadors schedule.
