Birthday: Gardner Orsted Celebrates 99 Years on June 2

Gardner (Gardie) Orsted of Baileys Harbor is celebrating his 99th birthday on June 2. A lifelong resident of Door County, Gardie was a telephone lineman for the Door County Phone Company. In the early days, he dug the hole, placed the pole, climbed the pole, strung the wire and then installed and maintained the phone. He enjoys retirement by visiting friends and family.
