Boat Building Skills

Every year the Door County Maritime Museum hosts a wooden boatbuilding class. Aspiring boat builders have an opportunity to gain firsthand skills in the age-old craft of building wooden boats. The class is open to beginners as well as experienced woodworkers.

Wooden boatbuilding class instructors David Morgan and Bob Schottmuller announced the next class project will be an Iain Oughtred designed 15’8″ Stickleback Dory.

Raffle tickets are available for the Cedar Strip Whitehall boat that was built by the museum’s boatbuilding class. Tickets can be purchased through Oct. 6 online at dcmm.org or by calling 920.743.5958. The drawing will be held in Oct. 12 during Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor.
