Boys Baseball: Eagles Sweep Bulldogs

Southern Door’s baseball team hosted Peshtigo on Tuesday when the Eagles won both games of the Packerland Conference doubleheader.

In game one, Southern Door broke a scoreless tie with seven runs on six hits in the fourth inning and went on to shut out the Bulldogs, 9-0.

The Eagles’ fourth inning featured a two-out, bases-loaded single by Braylon Berg, who drove in two runs. Tyler Neinas added a double to drive in two more runs.

Southern Door tallied two more runs on three hits in the sixth inning.

The Eagles’ hitting attack in game one included two hits each from Berg, Neinas, Will Jandrin, Isaac Baudhuin and Jerek Valley, with Neinas leading the way with 3 RBI.

On the mound, Drew Daoust and Baudhuin combined on the shutout, with Daoust pitching the first 5 2/3 innings and Baudhuin closing out the final 1 1/3 innings.

In game two, Southern Door pounded out 19 hits and trounced Peshtigo in five innings, 16-2

Berg, Jandrin and Nick Beck led the way for the Eagles with three hits apiece, while Neinas, Baudhuin, Gage Geisel and Cash Nellis tallied hits each.

Southern Door’s five-run third inning featured  a two-run homer from Nellis. In the fourth inning, the Eagles’ five singles produced four runs.

Baudhuin pitched all five innings for the Eagles, allowing only two hits with both of Peshtigo’s run being unearned.

Up next for Southern Door, which evened its Packerland record to 3-3, is a conference doubleheader Thursday against Sturgeon Bay at Memorial Field starting at 5 pm.
