Classes and Events at Artists Guild

February may be a short month, but it’s packed with events at Artists Guild in Sturgeon Bay.

This month’s Youth Art Classes on the theme of Oil Pastels will be held Feb. 9. Owner/instructor Sarah Bradley will teach the classes, held from 9:30 – 11 am (ages 5 – 8), 12:30 – 2:30 pm (ages 9 – 12), and 3:30 – 5:30 pm (ages 13 – 18). The cost, including all materials, for the morning class is $25, and $30 for the afternoon classes. Pre-registration is required by Feb. 7.

Portraiture, a new two-day workshop, will be taught by Craig Blietz on Feb. 16 and March 16, 9 am – 4 pm. Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. Students may bring the medium of their choice; the instructor will provide a modest materials list upon request. Cost for the two-day workshop is $275 and pre-registration is required.

“Black Visual Artists” is the theme of the Art Speak series on Feb. 16, 10 am – 12 pm. Jennifer Aldrich will present a talk and show images of artwork by American black artists to be followed by a discussion period.

The Life Drawing Guild series is underway and open to drop-in participants on Wednesday nights, 6:15 – 8:15 pm, for $20 per visit. High school and college students may attend for $8 a visit. Participants should bring their own drawing materials.

“All About Oils” is the theme of the Art Fundamentals class on Feb. 23, 10 am – 12 pm. Owner/instructors Jeff and Sarah Bradley will give students a working knowledge of the history and techniques of oil painting, and each student will create a small oil painting. Cost for the class is $30 and includes all materials. Pre-registration is required by Feb. 21.
