Clippers Buried by Storm in Girls Basketball

Sturgeon Bay’s girls basketball team had trouble scoring and committed multiple turnovers at home Thursday while facing Kewaunee’s full-court pressure defense.

The Clippers didn’t record a field goal until Regan Kasten scored with 4:30 remaining in the first half, while the Storm tallied the first 11 points of the game and led 32-7 at halftime.

Sturgeon Bay ended up losing to Kewaunee, 54-22.

Dasha Yeltysheva led the Clippers with 12 points.

The Storm was led by Jade Kroll with 16 points. Brianna Demmin added 15 points.

Sturgeon Bay, which dropped to 1-6 in the Packerland Conference and 3-10 overall, returns to action Jan. 19 with a league game at Oconto.

Kewaunee (7-0, 12-0) next plays a non-conference game Tuesday at Kiel before hosting a Packerland game Jan. 19 against Gibraltar.
