Construction Update: Nov. 20, 2014

Hwy. 42, Sister Bay

Schedule: July 2015 to June 2016

Length: 0.8 miles

Cost: $5.8 million

Location: Country Walk Drive to Scandia Road

Description: This project involves the reconstruction of Hwys. 42 and 57 in Sister Bay. The work includes traffic and erosion control, signing, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, lighting, concrete and asphalt pavement and landscaping.

Nov. 16 to 20: Crews plan to pour the last section of the Hwy. 42 concrete pavement in the northbound driving lane at the south end of the project and the installation of roadway signs. Crews plan to continue installation of the concrete sidewalks throughout the project. Crews also plan to begin operations for winter shut down, including placement of temporary asphalt at intersections and driveways and temporary pavement marking.

Traffic Impacts: Hwy 42 southbound is closed. The southbound traffic detour is Hill Road to North Spring Road to Scandia Road to Woodcrest Road to Old Stage Road to Hwy. 57 to Country Lane to Hwy. 42. 42 northbound is open. For more information, go to projects.511wi.gov/wis42/.

 

Hwy. 57, Brussels

Schedule: September 2015 to November 2015

Length: 0.5 Miles

Cost: $932,686

Location: Pine Road Mitigation Site and County C and WIS 57 intersection.

Description of project: The project involves mitigation site maintenance at the Pine Road Mitigation Site and constructing J-turns at the intersection of County C and Hwy. 57. Work includes traffic and erosion control, asphalt pavement, grading, base aggregate, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, storm sewer, pavement marking, lighting and weir expansion.

Nov. 16 to 20: Contractor will pour the curb and gutter for splitter island and pave upper layer of asphalt surface. They will complete installing the new signs and necessary pavement marking.

Traffic impacts: Hwy. 57 may be reduced to one lane in both directions from Sunday at 9 pm to Friday at noon. Median crossing of County C at 57 is closed. Drivers who wish to turn left on County C or cross 57 on County C will use the newly constructed J-turns.
