Construction-Zone Specials Cooked Up

While official and unofficial state Highway 42 detour routes stirred up concern for downtown Egg Harbor businesses, some restaurant owners have adjusted their attitudes and launched new strategies.

For example, Shipwrecked Brew Pub and Restaurant introduced a special called The Detour Burger that comes with a miniature road-construction sign.

The half-pound burger comes topped with smoked gouda, bacon, pickle and barbecue/aioli sauce, with crunched-up cool-ranch tortilla chips on top.

Shipwrecked is located at 7791 Hwy 42 in Egg Harbor.
