Corner of the Past of Sister Bay Opens for the Season

The Corner of the Past historical museum will open for its 15th season June 11 and 12. Docents from the Sister Bay Historical Society will be on hand from 11 am – 3 pm every weekend through the end of June. Friday hours will be added to the schedule for July and August.

Self-guided tour brochures are available, providing a brief history of each of the 15 buildings on the museum grounds. The Old Anderson House, a family farmhouse built in 1875 and renovated by society members in 1997, is the centerpiece of the complex. Additional vintage structures donated by local families and businesses have been added including the Koessl barn, a granary, summer kitchen, chicken coop, machine shed, sawmill and several log cabins. Each structure houses collections of implements, furnishings and photos.

Two cottages from the Liberty Park resort are the most recent acquisitions, with one currently serving as workroom and storage space and the other being restored as it was in the ‘30s when Sister Bay’s resort businesses began to draw vacationers from throughout the Midwest.

The Corner of the Past is located at the intersection of Hwy. 57, Country Lane and Fieldcrest Road, south of the Hwy. 42 and Hwy. 57 intersection in Sister Bay.

The Sister Bay Historical Society is a non-profit organization operated entirely by volunteers; contributions are appreciated. For more information visit http://www.sisterbayhistory.org.
