Cynthia Koshalek Designs Fyr Bal Medallion for 2nd Year

For the second year in a row, the Fyr Bal medallion has been created by local artist Cynthia L. Koshalek. The 2017 Fyr Bal Chieftain will be honored June 17 at 8:30 pm in front of the Village Hall. The medallion presentation will be one of the highlights of the 53rd Fyr Bal Festival in Ephraim.

The pendant is made of copper and brass. The central design is the Fyr Bal symbol, which can be seen on flags waving all over Ephraim. The pendant is hand cut and pierced with the year 2017. The large circular disk is a pierced and hand-sawn design. The copper disk has a rainbow patina to make it appear ancient. The brass symbol has a sanded finish to make it appear new and modern. A handmade, hammered copper chain has been added as the final touch.

Koshalek is an award-winning artist and her work can be seen at Artzy Studio in Ephraim. She will participate in the Fyr Bal Artisan Market, showing jewelry and ceramics from 10 am to 8 pm at Harborside Park during the festival.
