DCAL Gallery Hosts Demonstrations

Door County Art League (DCAL) artist Sally Everhardus will be demonstrating on Sunday, August 31, at the Gallery of the Door County Art League, located at the back of the Top of the Hill Shops, Highway 42 and County F on Spring Road in Fish Creek.

Everhardus, a graduate of the University of Michigan’s School of Art with a minor in art and architectural history, works in a variety of media including watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and wood. In addition to her art, Everhardus is an avid seamstress, who also knits, crochets, stitches crewel and needlepoint, and makes baskets.

On Thursday, September 4, member Audrey Off will be working on a fall watercolor landscape in traditional transparent watercolor technique. Off’s style is eclectic. She chooses whichever medium best expresses the message she is trying to get across to the viewer. She works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, and photography. A native of Door County, Off started her professional career in the late 70’s and owns a gallery and framing shop in Sturgeon Bay.

On Friday, September 5, watercolorist Penny Pfister will be demonstrating at the gallery. Pfister’s subjects are often Door County flowers and fruits depicted in bright, cheerful colors, with red being her favorite. She uses Winsor Newton paints on 140 pound Arches paper.

The Door County Art League is comprised of members who are painters, sculptors, jewelers, potters, photographers, fabric artists, and more. All types of original art produced by 38 League members are on display and available for sale at the gallery. Business hours are Thursday through Monday, 10 am – 5 pm.
