DCAL Honors Master Artist at Annual Members Showcase

“On the Way to Prague” by Cal Bonnivier.

The Door County Art League (DCAL) honored Cal Bonnivier as the recipient of the 2013-14 Master Artist award at its 27th Annual Members Showcase reception on Aug. 27. Karen DeNoto and last year’s award recipient Jan Forkert presented the award with a large crowd in attendance. In addition, DCAL recognized five recipients of juried art awards and the People’s Choice Award winners.

Bonnivier, of Sturgeon Bay, was recognized for her extensive body of work created over many years of perfecting her talents, and sharing her wisdom and inspiration with other artists.

“With an extensive list of over one-hundred ribbons and awards, shows and invitationals, Bonnivier was a wonderful choice for this year’s Master Artist award,” states nominating committee chairperson Gale Ritchey. “Our committee members were deeply moved by the end of our nomination review meeting, and are so honored to have been part of the process, we all thank Cal Bonnivier for work well done.”

Emmett Johns, Karsten Topelmann and Kristi Roenning were jurors for the show. Awards were presented to Steve Stanger, first; Roxanne Hanney, second; Patricia Richardson, third; and honorable mentions went to Loretta Kelly, Arlene Stanger, and Polly Joubert. The People’s Choice was a tie between Kim Rosploch and Loretta Kelly.

The Annual Showcase exhibit runs through Oct. 30 at Door Peninsula Winery, located at 5806 Highway 42 in Carlsville.
