DCU Boys 14th at Small School State Meet

The Door County United (DCU) cooperative boys swimming team tallied 66 points and placed 14th out of 20 teams competing at Saturday’s Small School State Meet at Shorewood High School.

“The boys proved they’re ready for the quick approaching end of season and for the upcoming taper, as the meet showed off the strengths and assets the team has as a whole,” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson. “With the entire conference at the meet [Saturday], it also gave a good snapshot of what next weekend will look like at [the conference meet].”

DCU swimmers finished in the top 10 in three individual events.

The team’s top finish was recorded by Jack Monfils, who earned 17 points for placing second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 3.08 seconds). Monfils added a fifth-place finish good for 14 points in the 200 individual medley (2:05.95).

Logan Filar placed ninth to earn nine points in the 50 freestyle (24.44) and picked up two more points for placing 15th in the 100 freestyle (52.96).

Ezra Linnan added six points for placing 12th in the 100 backstroke (1:01.04) and 16th in the 50 freestyle (25.08).

DCU’s best finish in the relay events was recorded by Monfils, Filar, Linnan and George Atwell placing 12th for 10 points in the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.97).
