DCU Boys Swimmers Win Kiel Triangular

The Door County United (DCU) cooperative boys swimming team finished first Thursday in a three-team meet at Kiel.

DCU tallied 121 points, followed by Kiel (119) and Berlin (61).

“It was a close night, but the nine boys pulled it out and were able to get the job done,” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson.

DCU topped two of the three relay events, with Race Kasten, Jack Monfils, Colton Blackley, Logan Filar finishing first in the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 46.35 seconds, and Kasten, Blackley, Filar and Ezra Linnan recording a season-best time of 1:38 to win the 200 freestyle relay. 

DCU’s two other top-three relay finishes included: Linnan, Monfils, George Atwell and Tre Wienke placing second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.28); and Atwell, Wienke, Eric Jimenez-Polster and Branden Neubauer finishing third in the 200 freestyle relay (2:00.3).

In the individual events, DCU recorded 10 top-three finishes, with four in first place.

Kasten won both the 100 freestyle (53.08) and 100 backstroke (1:02.16).

Blackley placed first in the 50 freestyle (24.89) and second in the 200 freestyle (2:07.5).

Monfils finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.24) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:34.15).

Filar placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:19.46) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:03.36).

Wienke came in third in the 50 freestyle (27.45).

Neubauer was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.47).

DCU’s next meet is Saturday’s Redwing Invitational at Sheboygan South.
