DNR Kicks Off 2019 Wildlife Survey

The Department of Natural Resources kicks off its 11th annual Deer Hunter Wildlife Survey as the 2019 deer-hunting season begins Sept. 14.

The easy-to-use survey allows hunters to record their observations of deer and other wildlife. The DNR asks archery and gun hunters to record all their hunting activity throughout the deer season, even if no animals were seen during a hunt, because this provides data to help track abundance trends for deer and other wildlife species.

Hunters can enter observations by computer, mail or smartphone. To learn more about entering survey observations, visit dnr.wi.gov/topic/WildlifeHabitat/wlsurvey.html. The survey period ends in January 2020, when participants can receive a personalized summary of all recorded wildlife from that season.
