Docent-Led Hikes at the Clearing

Docents lead tours of The Clearing’s 128-acre property. Submitted.

This season, The Clearing Folk School is offering free, docent-led, interpretive hiking tours lasting about two hours, starting at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center and visiting the historical campus area of the property. 

No registration is necessary for the hikes, which will begin at 1 pm on many Saturdays and Sundays, May 7 through the end of October. Tour dates for May, June and July are listed at theclearing.org, and the rest of the dates will be announced in July. The trail terrain is rugged in places, so sturdy walking shoes are recommended.  

Open-house hours for the historical campus area of The Clearing, 12171 Garrett Bay Road in Ellison Bay, are also offered every Saturday and Sunday, May-October, 12-4 pm.
