Docent-Led Hikes at The Clearing Reveal Long History

The Clearing Folk School is once again pleased to offer free, docent-led hikes covering the 81-year history, folklore and landscape of the school and its 128-acre property. These interpretive hiking tours will visit the historic buildings and campus, which are on the National and State Historic Registers, led by our volunteer docents. The approximate two-hour hikes begin at 1 pm on most Saturdays and Sundays starting May 20 and run through the end of October. Specific tour dates for May, June and July are listed at theclearing.org under the Events/Tours tab. August through October dates will be announced in July.

No pre-registration is necessary. Tours begin at 1 pm from The Clearing’s Jens Jensen Visitor Center, located at 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay, where maps are also available for self-guided tours during the weekend from noon to 4 pm. The trail terrain is rugged in places and sturdy walking shoes are highly recommended.

For more information about the docent-led hiking tours, weeklong retreat classes and one- and two-day workshops, visit theclearing.org or call 920.854.4088 between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday through Friday.
