Docent-led Hikes at The Clearing

The Clearing Folk School will again offer free, docent-led hikes covering the history, folklore and landscape of the school and its 128-acre property. These interpretive hiking tours will visit the historic buildings and campus, and are led by volunteer docents. The approximate two-hour hikes begin at 1 pm on select Saturdays and Sundays; for hiking dates visit theclearing.org.

No pre-registration is necessary. Hikers should meet at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center, located at 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay, where maps are also available for self-guided tours. The terrain is rugged in places, and sturdy walking shoes are highly recommended.

Docent-led hikes will be offered on the following dates: May 26; June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30; July 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28. Dates for August through October will be released in July.

In addition, Campus Open House hours occur every Saturday and Sunday (May – Oct.) from 12 to 4 pm. The public is invited to visit The Clearing’s historic campus area during these hours.
