Door County Art Scene: Miller Art Museum 33rd Juried Annual Awards

At the Museum’s Opening Reception for the 33rd Juried Annual Exhibit – a two dimensional competition for adults 18 or older who reside in Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Oconto counties – several awards were given, totaling $1,150.

In total, 172 works by 93 artists were entered for this year’s show, and jurors Michael Nitsch and Craig Blietz selected 54 pieces by 51 artists for display.

Special Merit Award recipients include: Gerry Banks, Sturgeon Bay, “Ontario Canoeist,” photograph; Mary Ann Carter, Green Bay, “What Became of Sarah,” digital photograph; Sandra Murzyn, Manitowoc, “Kangaroo Lake Lily,” oil painting.

Juror’s Award recipients include: Vicky Molitor, Manitowoc, “Kuma,” cyanotype; Steven Monske, Green Bay, “Orchard at Horseshoe Bay,” oil painting; Armando Zeladon, Sturgeon Bay, “Trees and Cow,” silver gelatin photograph.

The Gerhard CF Miller Award of Excellence was given to Donna Brown, Baileys Harbor, “Fresh Air,” oil and wax medium on paper.

The Holiday Gift shop is also open for shoppers. This annual fundraiser features cards, jewelry, purses, pottery, books, Habitat for Humanity fruitcakes, Sturgeon Bay mugs, handmade ornaments, and so much more from many Door county artists and beyond.
