Door County Art News: Fairfield Holiday Gala and Art Auction Around the Corner

Just days remain before “The Tenth Anniversary Holiday Gala & Silent Auction” at the Fairfield Art Center in Sturgeon Bay, and the art center is encouraging the public to purchase tickets in advance of the event, which will be held 6:30 – 9 pm on Thursday, Nov. 20.

“We will be selling tickets at the door, but space is limited,” said Walt Freckmann, the Fairfield’s executive director. “Although we try to hold a few tickets in reserve, we may sell out before the night of the gala.”

The tickets are priced at $45 each for Fairfield members and $50 each for nonmembers. They are available in advance by cash, check or credit card at the Fairfield; and by cash or check at Northern Territory and the Dancing Bear. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will benefit the art center, including exhibitions, programming and daily operations.

The festive, holiday-themed evening will include gourmet hors d’oeuvres from Serves You Right Catering; select wines from Stone’s Throw Winery; sparkling juices donated by the Door Peninsula Winery; live music by accomplished Kaukauna pianist Brenda Nejedlo, who will play a series of holiday, classical and jazz tunes; and an exciting silent auction that will include signature pieces by more than 50 well-known Door Peninsula artists, which are currently appearing in the special anniversary exhibition “10,” as well as a wide variety of select non-art gift items from area businesses.

All three galleries will be open throughout the evening. In addition to viewing the auction artwork and gift items in the Main Gallery, guests may also view the “Reneé Schwaller: Inspirational Symbols in Clay” exhibition in Gallery 242, which opened November 4 and runs through November 29, and selections from the art center’s permanent collection in the Henry Moore Gallery. Both galleries are located on the lower level.
