Door County Art Scene: Family Day at Peninsula School of Art Takes Cue from Latest Exhibit

Peninsula School of Art will open its doors to families with children of all ages for the free Family Art Day on Saturday, March 21 from 10 am – 2 pm. The free arts activities, including painting and collage, are based on the works currently on exhibition in the school’s Guenzel Gallery “Clearly Beautiful: Works in Glass.”

The projects are designed to be fun and educational for children and teens ages 3 ½ to 17 and their parents. No registration is necessary, and most projects can be completed within an hour or two.

Family Art Days are offered on the third Saturday of each month at Peninsula School of Art. Community Relations Director, Cinnamon Rossman says, “Children and parents working side by side in our studios learn from each other and learn about their own creativity in very artful ways.”

Many families attend the event each time it is offered. Rossman commented “Participants become more comfortable in the studio setting with each project, and I love to see them experimenting with the materials.” A variety of supplies is always on hand for these events, allowing endless possibilities.

Family Art Days are supported by contributions and a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board. Donations to the project are always welcome. For more information about this event and other Peninsula School of Art workshops, exhibitions, and community programs, call 920.868.3455 or email [email protected].
