Door County Art Scene: Peninsula School of Art SOUP! Project A Success

Support for the third annual SOUP! Project overflowed on Saturday, February 7, with over 550 people buying bowls and attending the soup-and-bread buffet at Peninsula School of Art, 3900 County Road F in Fish Creek. Proceeds from the event benefit Feed My People of Door County and Outreach Programs at Peninsula School of Art. SOUP! is supported in part with funds from Thrivent Financial, Door County Chapter.

Bowls for SOUP! were created by a variety of community organizations, including local schools and churches. The soup and bread was donated through area restaurants and volunteers.

Also held in conjunction with SOUP! is the youth art work-in-progress, “100 Years of Art” in the Guenzel Gallery of Peninsula School of Art. This ongoing project will be further developed by those who participate in the school’s Family Day on Saturday, February 21, from 10 am – 2 pm.

Family-friendly art projects will be displayed in the gallery, with the work inspired by 20th Century masters Rodin, Matisse, Cezanne, Calder, Warhol, Close, Sherman, Kandinsky, Pollock and Segal. Family Day is free and open to the public.
