Door County Event – Sails Around the Bay

The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center is hosting the first annual Sails Around the Bay Auction, Saturday, October 4. This year’s public artwork will be put on the auction block at 7 pm, concluding a daylong celebration along the waterfront, adjacent to Stone Harbor Resort. Leading up to the finale auction is a new activity, “Chalk the Walk,” with artistic opportunities for young and old to chalk four-foot sections of the waterfront walkway. Judging and prizes will be awarded at 4 pm.

All are welcome to join the party and enjoy the melodic sounds of steel drum band Pandora’s Groove from 1 – 4 pm, followed by local favorite, Mid-Life Crisis, performing from 5 – 7 pm.

On display throughout town all summer, the decorated sails, depicting diverse subject matter – from local landmarks to abstract images – will finally be auctioned off, following a parade to showcase each work. A continuation of the past street art projects, proceeds from the auction event will go to the sail artists and the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center.
