June 25 will be Belgian Heritage Day at the Door County Historical Museum. Barb (Englebert) Chisholm, 5th generation Belgian American, will be available to talk about the museum’s Belgian exhibits. At 1:30 pm, Chisholm will explain the devastating effects the Great Fire of 1871 had on the Belgian community of southern Door County.

Kim Potier-Davis will represent the Peninsula Belgian American Club to answer questions about their activities and information will be available from the Namur Heritage group explaining their preservation project of the St. Mary’s of the Snow Church building.

Chisholm and Potier-Davis will be available from 1 – 3 pm. Other displays will feature a DVD highlighting local customs of Brussels and a board illustrating the making of Belgian pies. A locally written book by Margaret Draize, taking the reader through a year of Walloon recipes, traditions and customs, will be available for purchase.

The museum is open daily from 10 am – 4:30 pm. For more information call 920.743.5809 or email [email protected].
