Door County Master Gardeners Offer Two Programs

The Door County Master Gardeners will present two programs at the Crossroads at Big Creek this April.
DD Knutson, a local grasses enthusiast and Door County Master Gardener Volunteer, will present a program showcasing the advantages of adding grasses to a garden on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 pm. In addition to sharing beautiful photos and her knowledge of ornamental grasses, Knutson will provide a very useful handout listing botanic and common names, descriptions, and growing requirements of these grasses.
After attending the program, participants are encouraged to view the ornamental grasses in the Garden Door at the Peninsula Research Station in Sturgeon Bay, located a half mile north of the intersection of Highway 42/57.
Tuesday, April 12 at 7 pm, Roy and Charlotte Lukes will present “Wings Over Door County,” an updated version of a program the couple held in May of 2010 at the Wisconsin Society of Ornithology’s annual convention, where the couple was honored with the “Bronze Passenger Pigeon” award.
The programs are free and open to the public. For more information contact Bill and Sarah Freyman at 920.868.1749 or via email at [email protected].
