Door County’s Peninsula Singers Perform “A Season of Carols”

The Peninsula Singers are proud to present this year’s Christmas concert, “A Season of Carols.” The first performance will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 at 7 pm at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church. The second will be held Sunday, Dec. 12 at 3 pm at the First Baptist Church in Sister Bay.

Artistic director Merle Colburn, piano accompanist David Beck, and the Peninsula Singers have been practicing since September for the two performances, which are presented to the community free of charge – although guests will have an opportunity to donate to the group.

The program will include songs and carols, among them “Donkey Carol” and “Shepherd’s Pipe Carol” by John Rutter, “Hodie,” a Christmas cantata by John Leavitt, and a suite of familiar carols arranged by Robert Shaw and Robert Russell Bennett. The program will also feature “The Twelve Days of Christmas” presented in a range of styles from 6th century Roman through the Renaissance and ending in 19th century American march tempo. Guests will also enjoy presentations by the Southern Door High School choir, the New Day Singers, and a piano interlude by David Beck.

WS Packaging Group of Algoma is the sponsor of this Peninsula Singers concert.
