Door Prize for Portraiture Exhibit Opens at Chez Cheryl

The third annual Door Prize for Portraiture will open June 29 at Chez Cheryl Art Space in Baileys Harbor. This exhibit includes 21 regional artists working in a variety of media including collage, photography, sculptural formants, drawing, pastels and painting with oil and acrylic.

The Door Prize for Portraiture was launched in 2010 to pay homage to the portrait and has evolved to become a showcase for new and returning artists. New artists include: Sharon Auberle, Sister Bay; Julia Van Roo Bresnahan, Baileys Harbor; Randy Rasmussen, Sarah Bradley, Cal Bonnivier and Stephanie Trenchard, Sturgeon Bay; Mark Zelten, Green Bay; and Shelby Keefe, Milwaukee.

Returning this year is the winner of last year’s ‘Door Prize,’ Lori Beringer of Pylmouth, along with Emmett Johns, Mary Ulm Mayhew, Lynn Gilchrist, Liz Maltman, Tudy Ekman, Archelle Buttons Wolst, Cynthia Wolfe, Ken Klopack, Tim Nyberg, Rick Risch, Suzanne Rose, and Cheryl Stidwell Parker, event organizer.

The event debuts on June 28 with awards and a party for the artists and their guests. Graeme Reid, assistant director of the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend, will announce the ‘Door Prize’ winner and two honorable mention recipients.

The exhibit is open between 10 am – 4 pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout July. Chez Cheryl Art Space is located at 8360 High Plateau Road just off EE west of Baileys Harbor. For more information call 920.421.1690.
