Door Shakespeare Announces 2017 Season: ‘Twelfth Night’ and ‘The Heart of Robin Hood’

Door Shakespeare is pleased to announce the 2017 summer season will feature William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night directed by Joseph Hanreddy.

Hanreddy returns to Door Shakespeare where he directed the critically acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2016. This production garnered recognition for Best Play in the Milwaukee region from Broadwayworld.com. Also featured in the 2017 season will be The Heart of Robin Hood by David Farr, directed by Shanara Gabrielle. Door Shakespeare is proud to expand its offering of plays to include timeless, family-friendly tales like the legendary story of Robin Hood.

Amy Ludwigsen, artistic director of Door Shakespeare, said the following of the season announcement, “I am very excited to begin work on these productions. I am delighted and honored to welcome directors Joseph Hanreddy and Shanara Gabrielle back to bring these adventurous, clever, and timely tales to life in our unique theater space. Producing The Heart of Robin Hood by David Farr to compliment our work with The Bard will be revitalizing for the company. What better place to turn into Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest than the enchanting woods of the Garden at Björklunden? This play will be a great adventure for the growing number of families and students that attend Door Shakespeare. We are assembling a fantastic company of artists to tell these stories and look forward to welcoming and entertaining audiences of all ages this coming summer.”

Door Shakespeare’s 2017 season is currently scheduled to run July 1 to Aug. 19 with preview performances to be announced shortly. All performances and events take place in the Garden at Björklunden in Baileys Harbor. Performances will run Mondays through Fridays at 8 pm and Saturdays at 5 pm. Tickets will go on sale March 1.
