Eagle Wrestlers Fifth at Dirk Sorenson Tourney

Southern Door’s wrestlers won one of the weight classes and recorded top-six finishes in five others Saturday when the Eagles placed fifth in the Dirk Sorenson Door County Classic hosted by Sturgeon Bay.

“As a team we placed fifth, but feel we could have been top three,” said Southern Door head coach Jerry Englebert. “We looked better than last week, but [we’re] still not wrestling as well as we did right after the New Year.”

The Eagles’ Hayden Jeanquart won the championship at 160 pounds. Jeanquart won his four matches with three pins and a forfeit.

Mason Motquin (120) and Trevor Englebert (138) both placed third at their respective weights.

Nora LeFevre (106) placed fourth, Wyatt Wilke (132) finished fifth and Spencer Slezewski (126) came in sixth.

Up next for Southern Door is a dual meet Thursday against Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol.
