Eagle Wrestlers Win Dual Meet Over SB/S

Southern Door’s wrestling team closed out its Packerland Conference dual meet schedule Thursday at Sevastopol with a 45-34 victory over Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol.

Of the nine contested matches, the Eagles won three of them on pins by Spencer Slezewski (138), Lance Veeser (150) and Trevin Veeser (157).

Southern Door’s Thomas Jackson won a 6-2 decision at 215 pounds over Alex Andreae.

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol won four matches on pins by Ethan DeNamur (165), Julian Langer (175), Zach Wrobel (190) and Seth Laughlin (285). Spencer Madsen won a 15-1 major decision for Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol at 144 pounds over Trevor Englebert.

The five lightest weight classes from 106 to 132 pounds were all decided by forfeits, with Southern Door winning four of those.

The Eagles, who previously lost conference dual meets to Peshtigo and Kewaunee, finished third in the Packerland with a 2-2 record.

Peshtigo, which won its final conference dual meet 57-21 over Kewaunee, repeated as the Packerland champion at 4-0, with Kewaunee coming in second in the conference.

Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol will both be competing Saturday at Sturgeon Bay in the Dirk Sorenson Door County Classic.
