Two Eagle Girls Wrestlers Win at Brillion Invite

Southern Door’s wrestlers were in action last weekend at individual tournaments, with the girls competing Friday at the Brillion Invite and the boys at Saturday’s Battle on the Bay hosted by Bay Port High School.

Two Eagle girls, Nora LeFevre (114) and Hailey Veeser (145), placed first in their weight classes and won all their matches on pins.

“They always wrestle under control using solid technique and their individual strengths,” said Southern Door head coach Jerry Englebert. “We work on technique in practice and they take it right to the mat and put it to use. Both continue to impress and improve every time out.”

The Eagles’ Sydney Turner placed fifth at the Brillion Invite at 126 pounds.

Southern Door’s top finishes among the boys at the Battle on the Bay were recorded by Trevor Englebert (144), Lance Veeser (150) and Hayden Jeanquart (!75).

Trevor Engelbert placed fourth, with Veeser and Jeanquart both finishing eighth. All three won their first two matches, before having some tougher matches they lost later in the tournament.

“All good learning opportunities that are hard to accept in the moment, but hopefully the motivation to get better,” Jerry Englebert said.
