Eagles Shut Out Oostburg in Football Opener

Southern Door took a two-touchdown lead in the first quarter and added a touchdown in the final quarter Friday when the Eagles opened the season at home with a 19-0 non-conference victory over Oostburg.

Zack Lynch, who ran for two touchdowns, got the Eagles on the scoreboard running into end zone from a yard away and also found paydirt in the final quarter from four yards out. He accounted for 80 of Southern Door’s 113 rushing yards.

Quarterback Drew Daoust connected late in the first quarter with Tyler Neinas on an eight-yard scoring strike, which gave the Eagles a 12-0 lead. Daoust completed 16 of 22 passes for 148 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Southern Door’s defensive effort to keep the Flying Dutchmen off the scoreboard included multiple stops close to the end zone.

When the Eagles got Oostburg to turn the ball over on downs inside the 10-yard during the second quarter, for instance, Lynch then fumbled on Southern Door’s first play to give the ball back to the Flying Dutchmen, who once again turned the ball over on downs.

Up next for Southern Door is a non-conference road game Aug. 25 at Brillion.
