Egg Harbor Trails Initiative Announces Input Sessions

Would you like to see an off-road multimodal trail network in Door County? If so, share your input at a public meeting and information session for the Egg Harbor Trails Initiative on Dec. 12 at the Kress Pavilion.

The Village of Egg Harbor, in partnership with the Town of Egg Harbor and Town of Gibraltar, is seeking community feedback on a proposed series of four, off-road, multi-use trails that would connect the village with surrounding neighborhoods and municipalities. The walking, cycling and running trails would cover approximately 11 miles and connect Fish Creek to Egg Harbor.

“This is a community effort and public participation is essential,” said John Heller, Village of Egg Harbor Board of Trustees president. “Feedback from the survey will help guide the process as we work to create more connected communities.”

Though this portion of the effort is centered in Egg Harbor, input from people residing throughout Door County and visitors is encouraged.

The input sessions will be held from 10 am – noon and 5 – 7 pm. Attendees can review potential trail maps and designs, meet with trail organizers including representatives from the National Park Service, and share feedback on the drafts.

An online survey is open and available through Dec. 11 for anyone to provide input on trail needs and desires. The survey takes about five minutes to complete and is available at rebrand.ly/TrailsSurvey.

The village is working with support from the Wisconsin Bike Fed and the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program (NPS-RTCA). The effort is part of a larger effort to improve bicycle and pedestrian connectivity throughout Door County, to be funded through a combination of grants and private donations.
