Ephraim Village Museum Gets a Mascot

Learning history will be especially entertaining for children and families at Ephraim Village Museums this season, as Bjorn, the new cartoon Draft Horse and mascot for the foundation’s children’s programming, will be a large presence – literally. A six-foot tall cutout of Bjorn will welcome the public with his big smile at Anderson Barn History Center when Ephraim Village Museums open for the season, Friday, June 18, at 11 am.

Mike McCartney, a successful Jacksonport artist, worked with the Foundation to create the burly mascot. Bjorn symbolizes the unique role Draft Horses played in clearing the Ephraim land of trees and stones for habitation in the mid- to late-1800s.

Bjorn will become a permanent part of the Anderson Barn History Center. His large hoof prints will lead children to the expanded Hands-On-Hayloft, which will include a new puppet theater and barn animal puppets.
