Ephraim Yacht Club Offers Adult Sailing Classes

The Ephraim Yacht Club (EYC) will offer adult beginner sailing lessons once a week on Thursdays. Each evening session will last three hours and includes classroom instruction and on-the-water practice. Students can sign up for four weeks (beginning June 30 or July 28) or eight weeks (beginning June 30).

“As one of the largest sailing schools in the Midwest, we already teach over 200 juniors how to sail every summer at the EYC,” said EYC Commodore Marsella Fults. “Now the EYC offers a way for adults who are interested in sailing to ‘get their feet wet’ in an adults-only environment which will be fun, social and summer-long.”

The EYC’s staff of 17 professional instructors, each certified by U.S. Sailing, will teach all lessons. Students are required to be at least 18 years old, know how to swim, and have their own properly fitting life jacket. All other equipment is supplied by the EYC. Lessons will be taught on the EYC’s fleet of eight Flying Scot sailboats, which are simple and stable. Tuition is $120 for four weeks or $240 for eight weeks.

The Ephraim Yacht Club is located on Water Street in Ephraim. EYC membership is required take lessons. Membership is open to all; annual membership dues begin at $50.

The EYC also teaches daytime lessons to juniors and adults in two-week and one-week sessions, meeting daily.
