Farm Market Kitchen to Hold “Man in Black Birthday Bash: BBQ, Bourbon and Brew”

The Farm Market Kitchen (FMK) is announcing the early 2016 event schedule. In response to community input, FMK is cooking up a number of new events, covering interests ranging from pop culture icons, to home and craft brewing, and just plain old excuses to get together; of course, some of the traditional holiday celebrations that have worked well in the past will live on.

The first event on Feb. 26, 5 – 10 pm, celebrates the birthday of Johnny Cash and is aptly titled, “Man in Black Birthday Bash: BBQ, Bourbon and Brew.” Fans of Bobby Rivers will be excited to hear he is providing the entertainment. On the menu will be barbecued beast and seaworthy creatures, bourbon flights, craft brew tasting and lots of other deliciousness featuring FMK processors and Chef Chris Wiltfang from Skaliwags.

“Many in the four surrounding counties that we serve still do not know what the Farm Market Kitchen is or what we do here,” said Marlene Machut of the Farm Market Kitchen. “FMK exists to help those who want to start a small food business – we refer to ourselves as a business incubator. Our building houses two certified commercial kitchens; we educate new food processors and provide guidance on how to get started and do it legally. Kitchen space and meeting rooms are available for rent by the hour.”

Reservations for the events are highly recommended. Tickets are $15 in advance by calling Jodie at JAG Outdoor, 920.487.3443, or the Farm Market Kitchen, 920.487.9750; tickets are $20 at the door. The events are held at the Gerald J. Haegele Center, 520 Parkway, Algoma. For more information visit farmmarketkitchen.org.
