FHCA Issues Call for Artists

The Francis Hardy Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that the 2008 prospectus for the 46th Annual Juried Exhibit at the Hardy Gallery is now available.

Professional and emerging artists working in all media are encouraged to submit work for consideration in the popular exhibit, which is scheduled to open on June 7 and run through July 13, 2008. This exhibit gives emerging artists an opportunity to gauge their development and established artists the opportunity to explore new ideas or techniques.

All artwork chosen for inclusion in the final exhibit is selected through a process of careful deliberation among a diverse panel of five jurors, all of who are active arts professionals in the Northeast Wisconsin region.

A unique component of the annual juried exhibit is the annual “Wall-to-Wall Salon,” a weeklong exhibit comprising all artwork submitted for the annual juried exhibit prior to the jury selection. The FHCA will again invite the public to vote for their favorites with the popular people’s choice awards.

“Last year we had 725 plus people turn out in only five short days to cast votes for their favorite pieces,” Elizabeth Meissner, exhibitions director said. “It’s exciting to see the diversity of the work submitted and a fun way for the audience to connect with the artwork.”

The three artworks chosen by the public in the people’s choice awards will be included in the final juried exhibition regardless of juror selection.
