“Flex” Award Winners Announced

Dinosaur Table by Ted Lott.

Ted Lott received top honors in both the Jurors’ Choice and People’s Choice Award categories at “Flex: A Show of Strength,” an exhibit for emerging artists, hosted by the Peninsula School of Art, 3900 County Road F in Fish Creek. During the opening reception on August 22, Lott received recognition for his mixed media table, “Dinosaur Jr.” His prizes included gift certificates totaling $400 toward workshops at the Art School.

Lott’s work – and that of 11 other emerging artists – will be on display until September 4 in Studio One at the Art School.

Other award winners include: Nik Garvoille, Second Place Jurors’ Choice Award, for “Once Titled,” a work in gouache, ink and pencil. Honorable mention was awarded to both Maggie Banks for her mixed-media diptych, “Layered Decrepitude,” and John McCaulley, for “Untitled APV,” a zinc plate monotype.

McCaulley, an intern at the art school, and Lott were repeat winners in the three-way tie for the People’s Choice Award. The pair shared honors with intern Logan Woods for his mixed media piece, “Unamed.”

This is the second consecutive year that the college-aged summer interns have produced an emerging artists show at the Peninsula School of Art.
