Free Three-Part Screening of ‘Race: The Power of Illusion’

The Racial Justice Action Team of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) is screening a three-part PBS mini-series, Race: The Power of an Illusion. Each screening is followed by a thoughtful, civil and honest community dialogue about America’s understandings of race and what it means for Door County. This event is free.

Race isn’t something that is talked about a lot in Door County. Yet, as both a community of increasingly diverse year-round residents, and an international tourist destination attracting people of color from around the world as visitors and employees, Door County can only benefit from a deeper understanding of what race is, what it isn’t, and why it continues to be such a troubling idea in America today. Join the Racial Justice Action Team from UUFDC to explore what race means together.

The Racial Justice Action Team seeks to create a welcoming community for people of color who live, work, and visit in Door County through service, education, and community advocacy.

Screenings will be held at the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Station on Mill Road from 6 – 8 pm. The schedule is Sept. 28 – Episode 1 “The Difference Between Us,” Oct. 5 – “The Story We Tell,” and Oct. 12 – “The House We Live In.” For more information, call 920.854.7559 or email [email protected].
