Gibraltar Boys Hoopsters Get First Season Win

The third non-conference road game of the season was the charm for Gibraltar’s boys basketball team.

After being tied 31-31 at halftime, the Vikings were victorious Saturday against Laona-Wabeno, 58-45.

More than half of Gibraltar’s scoring came from senior forward Jake Schar, who tallied 19 of his game-high 31 points in the second half. Senior guard Carl Burgess added nine points.

The Vikings, who are 1-2 overall, play their first Packerland Conference and home game of the season Tuesday when they host Kewaunee. Gibraltar will then play a conference road game Dec. 9 against NEW Lutheran.

Viking Girls Drop Conference Opener

Gibraltar’s girls basketball team is still looking for its first win of the season after dropping its Packerland Conference opener Friday at Kewaunee, 55-29.

The Vikings, who trailed 28-11 at halftime, were led in scoring by Mikala Gorham with 11 points. Andie Schar added nine points.

Gibraltar, 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Packerland, next hosts a conference game Dec. 8 against NEW Lutheran.
