Gibraltar Students to Share Work at Poetry Reading

The UU Fellowship’s Dickinson Poetry Series in February will feature 14 student poets from Gibraltar High School. This is the seventh year the Dickinson series has dedicated a monthly reading to young poets. The audiences have been moved by the depth and poignancy of the student poems.

Lauren Bremer, an English teacher at Gibraltar, teaches, coaches, and inspires the students’ poetry. This year the readers include: Sheridan Ash, Derek Beard, Morgan Bogenschutz, Kara Caldecott, Hope Copiskey, Julia Grant, Madalyn Gray, Riley Haleen, Elizabeth Henry, Alec Hoffman, Alejandra Jauregui, Jon Kordon, Olivia Potter and Hadley Reetz. Several of these students have read previously in the series and the new readers will ensure that the tradition will continue.

Mark your calendars for Feb. 10 at the UU Fellowship to join in a stimulating evening. The featured readers begin at 7 pm followed by an open mic. A post-reading reception provides an opportunity to discuss the poetry. The public is welcome and there is no charge. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located at 10341 Hwy. 42 in north Ephraim. For more information call 920.854.7559.
