Girls Softball: Pioneers Sweep Vikings

Sevastopol’s softball team opened Packerland Conference action Tuesday in Fish Creek by sweeping Gibraltar/Washington Island in two five-inning games.
The Pioneers defeated the Vikings in the first game, 19-1.
Naomi Rikkola led Sevastopol at the plate by batting 3-3 with a homer and five runs scored. Adi Sawyer went 2-2, with Taylor Kochanski adding a hit with four runs scored.
Addison Schauske recorded the complete-game pitching victory, allowing four hits while striking out 10.
Sevastopol won game two, 12-9.
Kochanski and Sawyer both batted 2-3 with a double apiece. Sienna Cain homered for the Pioneers.
Schauske pitched 3 1/3 innings and recorded the victory, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out four.
Sevastopol’s season record stands at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference going into Saturday’s league doubleheader at home against Peshtigo.
