‘Green’ Prize for Crossroads Trail Run Finishers

All run and walk 2k, 5k, 10k participants of the 9th annual Crossroads Trail Run, June 23, at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay will receive a native shrub, Blue Muffin viburnum, thanks to Evergreen Nursery. Reflecting the Crossroads Trail Run’s mission of promoting green living in our community, viburnum was chosen this year as the finishers prize due to its green shiny foliage, white flat-top flower clusters, and intense blue berries in late summer. This shrub is attractive to birds, bees and butterflies and will last for years to come.

In addition, every participant will receive a high-performance T-shirt, post-run refreshments consisting of ice cream topped with cherries from Lautenbach Orchards, and locally baked granola. Local awards for the 5k and 10k races include maple syrup from Henschel’s Farms, golden honey from Max and Dee’s Honeybees, and cherry jam from Bea’s Ho-Made. Youth awards this year are medals and a coupon from Door County Candy.

This chip-timed event is for all ages, all levels of runners and walkers, and is a great family event. Participants ages 7 and younger and 70 and older have free registrations. Start time is 8 am.

To register visit CrossroadsRun.com. Proceeds support the Ski-For-Free community program and the general fund.
